<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress and decrease an amount of a color toner used for color shift correction. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus corrects a color shift by detecting a toner pattern for color shift correction and overlaps images of a plurality of colors to form a color image. The apparatus performs color shift correction including: forming a color shift-correcting pattern comprising a plurality of full-color patterns and a black color shift-correcting pattern 25K, the black which is one color in the full colors, at the same interval as the full-color color shift-correcting patterns on a control basis; detecting pattern intervals of predetermined patterns detected by reflection sensor 24 in the respective full-color and black color shift-correcting patterns; computing an error in the color shift-correcting patterns from the detection results; and correcting a color shift based on the detection results of the black color shift-correcting pattern 25K and the error. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
