<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arrival direction estimating apparatus and an arrival direction estimating method capable of accurately estimating a direction of a transmission source of an incoming wave even if the incoming wave is a broadband signal such as UWB. <P>SOLUTION: In an arrival direction estimating apparatus 100, an arrival direction estimating unit 106 specifies an angle at which positions of peaks which appear in a plurality of signal intensity distributions calculated on a beam sweeping unit 105 are substantially equated. This makes it possible to estimate a true arrival direction by using such a characteristic that the positions of the peaks which appear in the plurality of signal intensity distributions are not equated at an angle corresponding to a false arrival direction if a received signal is a broadband signal.
