NEGATIVE ELECTRODE ACTIVE SUBSTANCE FOR LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode active substance for lithium secondary battery that compatibly improves both an active substance use rate and cycle characteristics.

SOLUTION: The negative electrode active substance 10 for lithium secondary battery has Si alloy 12 having Si crystallites 12a dispersed in a first metal matrix 12b, the Si alloy 12 being dispersed in a second metal matrix 14 having Li activity. It is preferred that the second matrix 14 is Sn or an Sn-based alloy. Furthermore, it is preferred that the second metal matrix 14 contains Sn of 50 atom% or more.
