<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: a conventional signal transmission device, which soft-switches a main switch Sm to an on state by controlling a delay time of the switching timing to the on state from the reference timing, has low controllablity of soft switching due to a variation between a switching command of the main switch Sm to an on state and switching of an actual switching state. <P>SOLUTION: An operation signal gm of a main switch Sm is transmitted to a drive unit DU as a charging voltage of a capacitor 80 through a photocoupler 60.
