<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent thin lines of an image read by a scanner from being printed with a lower density. <P>SOLUTION: A multifunction device comprises: a reading unit for reading image information which includes background pattern information printed on a medium; an image forming unit for forming an image on the basis of the image information read by the reading unit; a thin line information detection unit for detecting whether or not thin line information is included in the background pattern information read by the reading unit; and a control unit for controlling a formation method for an image in the image forming unit on the basis of a detection result of the thin line information detection unit.
