<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording head which makes uniform electric current pass through a spin torque oscillator, efficiently cools the spin torque oscillator, and has high reliability, and to provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic recording head includes: a main magnetic pole which generates a recording magnetic field on a magnetic recording medium and has a narrowing section and an end portion; a return yoke paired with the main magnetic pole; a spin torque oscillator provided between the main magnetic pole and the return yoke; non-magnetic metal layers provided around the narrowing section and the end portion of the main magnetic pole; and insulating layers provided around the spin torque oscillator between the main magnetic pole and the return magnetic pole. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
