PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technologies for greening a construction surface with desired plants without spending heavy labor or cost, and for preventing growth of weeds on the construction surface.

SOLUTION: A sheet-like base material 1 for greening the construction surface with desired plants while preventing growth of weeds includes flat yarns 1a and flat yarns 1b. The yarn 1a is thicker and wider than the yarn 1b, and the yarn 1b is thinner and narrower than the yarn 1a. The yarns 1a and 1b are alternately interwoven and knitted.
