<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance game interest by providing a novel game with respect to opening frequency of a start pocket. <P>SOLUTION: Triggered by play of a jackpot game, a first prescribed value is set to a variable reduction counter, a second prescribed value smaller than the first prescribed value is set to a special variable counter, and the variable reduction counter and special variable counter are subtracted every time variable display of special symbols (a first special symbol and a second special symbol) is performed. After the jackpot game is over and until the variable reduction counter shows zero, an opening time of a second start port is prolonged. When the variable reduction counter and the special variable counter are not set, variable display of a normal symbol is performed for a variable time for normal variation and, until the special variable counter shows zero after the jackpot game is over, variable display of the normal symbol is performed for a variable time for special variation.
