<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure an amount of retraction of a hammer without interfering with a washer receiving a rear end of a coil spring. <P>SOLUTION: In an impact driver 1, a washer 30 biasing a hammer 17 of an impact mechanism 8 to an advance position is formed in a ring shape having an inner diameter larger than that of a ring groove 18 formed on a rear surface of the hammer 17 and having a rise part 32 to the front erected on an inner peripheral edge.
