<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hologram optical element master disk by which the substrate thickness of a master disk and a recording layer for reproduction, and the diffracted angle of a hologram optical element can be freely designed, and in which, in the case of reproduction, a condenser lens is not required in front of the master disk. <P>SOLUTION: A master disk in this invention generates first diffracted light 36a that is diffracted in the vertical direction to the master disk and first diffracted light 36b that is diffracted in the diagonal direction to the master disk due to the incidence of reproducing light 35 from a specific direction.
