<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To write data of a high bit rate without hindrance, while effectively using a free space of a storage device. <P>SOLUTION: Electronic equipment includes execution means (6) for executing at least an application, instruction means (6) which is capable of instructing the execution means (6) to interrupt the execution of the application to execute other processing, detection means (6) for detecting the size of data amount per unit time of data generated accompanying the execution of the application, region division means (6) for dividing a free space of a storage device (14) into a plurality of regions according to a writing speed, and determination means (6) for determining whether or not a region corresponding to the size of data amount exists among the plurality of regions. When the existence of the region is determined, the region of interest is selected, while when the existence of the region is not determined, a region where a writing speed is slower than that in the region of interest is selected.
