The method involves stamping a periodic voltage signal of known frequency and known amplitude, which does not comprise a direct voltage portion, on a measuring cell (MZ), to obtain a modulated measuring cell voltage. Amplitude of the periodic voltage signal is determined from the voltage based on inner resistance of the measuring cell, where the measuring cell voltage is adjusted around a middle value. The inner resistance is computed from amplitude of the periodic voltage signal. Temperature of a lambda sensor (LS) is determined from known context of the inner resistance. An independent claim is also included for a device for computer-based determination of temperature of lambda sensors i.e. broadband lambda sensors.
