PURPOSE: An electromagnetic bearing is provided to calculate a control current value by comparison with a gap standard value set up in advance by receiving the measured value of a gap detected from a gap sensor. CONSTITUTION: An electromagnetic bearing comprises a stator(110), a gap sensor(120), an actuator(130), and a controller. The stator comprises a hollow cylindrical body(114). The hollow cylindrical body is projected towards a central part. The gap sensor measures the gap between the outer surface of the rotary shaft(101) and the end of a leg part(112). The actuator is placed on a receiving part formed in the hollow cylindrical body. The controller receives a measured value measured by the gap sensor. The controller controls the current value applied on the coil(113) and the actuator.
