<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information device for taxi allowing a taxi user to find whether a taxi is available or not before stopping the taxi. <P>SOLUTION: The information device for taxi comprises: position obtaining means 4 for obtaining an own vehicle position; service area storing means 5 for storing a service area where an own vehicle can give a service; and control means 6 for determining which position the own vehicle is inside or outside of the service area on the basis of the own vehicle position obtained by the position obtaining means 4 and the service area stored on the service area storing means 5 and performing control based on the determined result.
