<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical cable in which a plurality of optical fiber cores are housed in a single groove extending in a length direction of a slot rod, and the exterior of the slot rod is covered with a sheath and which has a good laying workability. <P>SOLUTION: An optical cable 1 is provided with a single groove 2a along the length direction of the slot rod 2 for housing a plurality of tape cores 3, a sheath 5 for covering the exterior of the slot rod 2, and a projection 2d projecting from the bottom 2c of the groove 2a of the slot rod 2 so as to include a center section of the optical cable 1.
