Provided is a production method capable of more precisely controlling a plate thickness of a resin matrix composite material. Disclosed is a method for producing a resin matrix composite material, wherein the method is provided with a step for laminating prepregs (30) on a jig (20) having a predetermined shape until reaching a predetermined thickness; a step for covering the laminated prepregs (30) and the jig (20) by a packaging material (35) and forming a first semi-finished product (40a) and a second semi-finished product (40b) by performing a pressure-heating process; a step for measuring plate thicknesses of the first semi-finished product (40a) and the second semi-finished product (40b); a step for determining the number of additional plies (42) on the basis of the measured plate thicknesses, a desired plate thickness of the resin matrix composite material, and the properties of the additional plies(42); and a step for forming a laminate (43) formed by laminating a predetermined number of additional plies (42), between the first semi-finished product (40a) and the second semi-finished product (40b) provided on jigs (41a, 41b) having predetermined shapes, covering the laminate (43) and the jigs (41a, 41b, 44) by a packaging material (47), and performing the pressure-heating process.
