Method and device for positioning sheets

The method involves measuring a position of a sheet (6) in a transverse direction, and measuring the position of the sheet in a circumferential direction and an inclined direction. Required correction motion is determined in the transverse, circumferential and inclined directions. The sheet is aligned in the transverse direction by motion of a clamping device. A gripping device (8) is positioned in the circumferential and inclined directions. The sheet is transferred from the clamping device to the gripping device while the gripping device is provided in a sheet transfer position. An independent claim is also included for a device for positioning sheets.
