<p>An assembly includes; a cover which is statically sealed over an opening in a cover of a hydraulic motor 1 adapted to receive one end 3 of a shaft 4 to be driven and dynamically sealed to the shaft which passes through it; and a pressure compensator 9 which in use is filled with oil and when used in a subsea location supplies oil to the opening to equalize the pressure within said opening to the surrounding sea pressure. Thus the seals have only minor pressure differences to cope with allowing deep sea operation. The compensator is subjected to the pressure of the sea and may include a flexible expansion envelope or a piston. A clamp connector (figure 6) includes a mounting plate (14, figure 6), on which the cover and the pressure compensator are mounted, and a shaft in the form leadscrew (31, figure 6) which draws together or moves apart linked clamp segments (32-34, figure 6) when the motor is operated.</p> |
