PURPOSE: A compound which suppresses osteopontin is provided to competitively supprss binding of osteopontin with integrin and to prevent and treat osteoporosis. CONSTITUTION: An inhibitor for osteopontin contians compound IPS05002 of chemical formula 1 or compound IPS05004 of chemical formula 2 and pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The compound of chemical formula 1 is 3-(4-fluoro-benzyl)-6-hydroxy-1-methyl-5-(2,3,4,9-tetrahydro-]H-β-carbolin-1-yl)-2-thioxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrimidin-4-one. The compound of chemical formula 2 is N-(1-Hydroxymethyl-2-phenyl-ethyl)-2-[4-(8-methoxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl)-phenoxy]-acetamide. A composition for preventing or treating osteoporosis, arthritis, or periodontal diseases contains the compound of chemical formula 1 or 2 or derivative thereof and pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
