A method for treating a fluid, especially a beverage like beer, wine or fruit juice is provided using a particulate material in the form of a deposited layer having an upstream side and a downstream side wherein a flow of said fluid is directed through said deposited layer from the upstream to the downstream side at a first temperature. In order to extend the period of time during which said particulate material may be used for the treatment it is suggested to recondition said deposited layer and then resuming treatment of said fluid, wherein said reconditioning comprises the steps of - heating the deposited layer to a second temperature; and - cooling the deposited layer to a third temperature at an average cooling rate in the range of up to about 20 DEG C/min.. |
