The method involves detecting a fuel level lower than a predetermined threshold. Start and stop functions are inhibited in an engine. A parameter relating to rolling process is measured. The stop function is measured when the fuel level is greater than another predetermined threshold. The start and stop functions is deinhibited according to the measured parameter, where the measured parameter is selected from a group comprising fuel consumption, number of kilometers traveled or rolling type. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle comprising a fuel tank.
