PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for reproducing stereophony are provided to localize a virtual sound source at a preset height by amplifying one or more channel signals passing through an HRTF(Head Related Transfer Filter) with a gain of a speaker. CONSTITUTION: A sound signal passes through an HRTF corresponding to a preset height(S810). One or more copied sound signals are generated by copying the filtered sound signals(S820). One or more copied sound signals are amplified according to a gain corresponding to a speaker(S830). One or more amplified sound signals are outputted through the speaker(S840). A virtual sound source is located at a preset height by using a speaker arranged on a horizontal surface.
