摘要 PURPOSE: A high-speed low-complexity 16-channel reed-solomon decoding apparatus using time-multiplexing RiBM algorithm and a method thereof are provided to shorten a critical path by reconfiguring a syndrome polynomial with an odd term and an even term. CONSTITUTION: A 16 channel 3 parallel reed-Solomon decoding apparatus includes a syndrome polynomial calculating unit(110), an error locator/error value polynomial calculator(120), an error correcting unit(130), and a delay buffer(140). The syndrome polynomial calculating unit calculates syndrome polynomial divided into an odd term and an even term by using a received message. The error locator/error value polynomial calculator calculates an error locator polynomial and an error value polynomial based on the syndrome polynomial. The error correcting unit calculates the error value and the error locator of the reception message by using the error locator polynomial and the error value polynomial.
