<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foot protection block that is highly reliable in foot protection effect and excellent in construction efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A foot protection portion between a revetment block 21, which is provided in a space made by excavating a riverbed 6 and a riverbank 7, and the riverbed 6 is provided with a foot protection block 10 made of precast concrete. The foot protection block 10 comprises: a paired buttresses 41, each of which is formed in a shape filling the foot protection portion remaining after excavation and whose cross section between the revetment block 21 and the riverbed 6 has a shape of an inverted trapezoid; a first side wall 42, which is connected to the buttress 41 and formed in a shape that fits the side face of the riverbed 6 opposite the revetment block 21; and a second side wall 43, which is connected to the buttress 41 and formed in a shape that fits the outer face of the revetment block 21. A plurality of broken stones 28 are put in the interior of the foot protection block 10. Since the foot protection block 10 is constituted as stated above, the whole foot protection portion is filled in a cross-sectional state simply by setting the foot protection block 10.
