<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly grasp tension applied to a fishing line in a fishing reel. <P>SOLUTION: An initial setting is defined in S1. In S2, the torque of a spool shaft 2 is detected. In S3, a temperature sensor 76 detects the temperature of a detection coil 75b. In S4, a substrate temperature sensor 69 detects the temperature of a sensor substrate. In S5, the detected torque of the spool shaft 2 detected by a torque sensor 75 is converted into calculated tension applied to a fishing line, and corrected tension applied to the fishing line is calculated by correcting the tension according to the temperature, detected by the temperature sensor 76, of a detection coil 75b and to the temperature of the sensor substrate detected by a substrate temperature sensor 69.
