<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a triglyceride-free pharmaceutical composition for delivery of a hydrophobic therapeutic agent. <P>SOLUTION: The pharmaceutical composition includes a hydrophobic therapeutic agent including, in particular, the sex hormone and a carrier, where the carrier is formed from a combination of a hydrophilic surfactant and a hydrophobic surfactant. The composition includes: upon dilution with an aqueous solvent, the hydrophilic surfactant and the hydrophobic surfactant in an amount such that a clear aqueous dispersion is formed; a first amount of the hydrophobic therapeutic agent solubilized in the clear aqueous dispersion; and a second amount of the hydrophobic therapeutic agent that remains non-solubilized but dispersed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
