<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turning insert whereby straight cutting chips can be discharged, generation of heat is restrained, and long tool service life can be achieved. <P>SOLUTION: The turning insert is provided with one or more corners (5) having two cutting blades (4 and 6) formed between a cutting chip restricting face (7) and a flank. The first cutting blade (4) discharges cutting chips and the second cutting blade forms a finished face. The first cutting blade (4) is straight and is turned to the second cutting blade (6) through a sharp boundary part. The second cutting blade (6) is also preferably straight. The sharp boundary part between the two cutting blades (4 and 6) is provided as the flanks adjacent to the sharp boundary part are formed by planes extending at an obtuse angle to each other.
