<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminately recognize any character other than a predetermined type of characters. <P>SOLUTION: When acquiring each stroke information indicating each stroke group from an electronic pen 2 via a reception part 15, a CPU 11 determines whether or not a section line has been detected from among the stroke groups. When the section line is detected, the CPU 11 divides the stroke groups at the back and front parts or the right and left parts of the section line, and performs character recognition processing for each of the divided groups. Then, the CPU 11 synthesizes the recognition results of each group. When the section line is not detected, the CPU 11 performs character recognition processing by using the stroke groups as one group without performing the division of the stroke groups.
