SPARK PLUG FOR SPARK IGNITION TYPE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress electrode deterioration due to plasma heat generated upon ignition using plasma without depending on the structure of spark ignition type internal combustion engine.

SOLUTION: A spark plug for a spark ignition type internal combustion engine comprises: a center electrode which electrically connects an ignition coil for applying a high voltage to cause spark discharge and an electric field generation circuit for generating an electric field; and a ground electrode which is opposed to the center electrode. The spark ignition type internal combustion engine ignites an air-fuel mixture by plasma generated by the reaction of spark discharge and electric field. The ground electrode has at least two projections which project toward the center electrode.
