METHOD OF MANUFACTURING GRANULAR CARBOXYL GROUP-CONTAINING POLYMER PARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a granular carboxyl group-containing polymer particle which is excellent in the dispersibility to water, exhibits low dusting and high fluidity, and has only a small remaining solvent amount; and to provide a granular carboxyl group-containing polymer particle obtained by the manufacturing method.

SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a granular carboxyl group-containing polymer particle comprises the steps of: polymerizing a monomer containing (meth)acrylic acid as a main component to fabricate a carboxyl group-containing polymer; adding at least one compound selected from the group consisting of polyhydric alcohol fatty acid esters and polyhydric alcohol fatty acid ester alkylene oxide adducts to the carboxyl group-containing polymer to fabricate a mixture; moistening the mixture so that the moisture content of the mixture becomes 3 to 20 mass% to fabricate an aggregate of the mixture; and drying and then crushing the aggregate of the mixture. In the step of fabricating the mixture, the use amount of the at least one compound selected from the group consisting of polyhydric alcohol fatty acid esters and polyhydric alcohol fatty acid ester alkylene oxide adducts is 0.2 to 5 pts.mass with respect to 100 pts.mass of the (meth)acrylic acid.
