<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which a black substance can be removed without bringing a seed crystal to be too short, when the black substance adheres to the surface of the seed crystal before contacting the seed crystal to a raw material melt, in producing a metal fluoride single crystal by the Czochralski method or the Kyropoulos method. <P>SOLUTION: Before contacting a seed crystal 116 for initiating crystal growth to a raw metal fluoride melt 104, the seed crystal is descended to immerse its lower end into a raw material melt and at least a part of the immersed seed crystal is melted, subsequently an operation for bringing the seed crystal and the raw material melt to be in a non-contact state is carried out at least one time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
