[Class 8 (i).] In air-pumps for blow-lamps and other lamps and stoves operated to force oil through a vaporizing burner, the pump plunger is designed to seal the passage from the pump to the oil container when the container has been put under pressure. For this purpose the coned inner end m of the pump plunger n is designed to seat on the end of the passage k in the end disc g and to be locked in this position by the screw r on the outer end of the plunger working into the barrel end cap f. During operation of the pump, the locking-means on the plunger are held back from their seatings by a sliding stop u which is held by the fingers so that its terminal disc s aligns with the head of the operating-knob q on the pump plunger. When in this position, the terminal collar of the stop extends below the screw r and prevents its contact with the screw thread in the cap f.</p> |
