Disclosed is an electronic apparatus wherein a function of changing the display direction of a display screen and disabling of such function are controlled. In the case where it is detected by a display direction detecting unit (1b) that the display direction of a display screen (1d1) is the closest direction to the perpendicularly downward direction among the displayable directions, in a state wherein the display direction of the display screen (1d1) does not change corresponding to the tilt direction of the display unit (1d), said display direction being detected by the display direction detecting unit (1b), a control unit (1a) changes the display direction of the display screen (1d1) corresponding to the tilt direction of the display unit (1d). The display direction detecting unit (1b) detects the display direction of the display screen (1d1), said display direction being displayed on the display unit (1d). The tilt detecting unit (1c) detects the tilt direction of the display unit (1d) with respect to the perpendicularly downward direction, said display unit displaying information.
