A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for selectively providing content from a media program provider to a user device. A method in accordance with one or more embodiments of the present invention, wherein the user device comprises a user interface module and a media program player, bases the selective providing of the content on a geolocation of the user device, and comprises requesting, from the user interface module of the user device, a program identifier (PID) for content from the media program provider, wherein the PID request for content comprises at least a geolocation component, determining if the requested PID is geographically restricted, determining a geolocation of the user device based at least on the geolocation component of the PID request for content, and selectively providing access to the requested content based on a comparison between geographic restrictions of the PID and the determined geolocation of the user device.
