<p>Disclosed are immunologically active compositions that comprise: (a) a pathogen associated molecular pattern (PAMP); (b) optionally, an immune active antigen or antigenic epitope; and (c) a polysaccharide microparticle carrier. The carrier is effective to deliver the composition to an organism to induce protective immunity, or alternatively induce tolerance, by the interaction of the composition with a cell of the immune system. The PAMP, and the antigen if present, are covalently linked to the same carrier. The carrier is a polysaccharide microparticle, in particular agarose, and can be used to protect chickens against Mycoplasma gallisepticum.</p> |
