<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The device has a laser device (102) for delivering a laser pulse (104) to convert chemical elements in a portion of a mark (100) into plasma. A detection unit (108) i.e. detector, detects electromagnetic radiation (106) emitted by the plasma. A processing unit (110) evaluates the radiation or its characteristic property, and provides a signal based on information in the mark to identify an object (114).
