<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plank to be attached to a cutting tool for cutting work, which rotates to remove chips, and to provide a cutting tool equipped with the plank. <P>SOLUTION: The cutting tool includes: a base having a rotation shaft C; a peripheral envelope surface (5) coaxial with the rotation shaft; a front end surface (6); and at least one insert seat (9) having a seating surface (10). The base is rotatable in a rotation direction R, and, on the seating surface of each insert seat, receives the plank and a cutting insert in contact with the plank. The plank includes: a sole surface (4a) in contact with the seating surface of the base; a contact surface which is formed opposite to the sole surface and is in contact with the cutting insert; and at least one side surface which extends between the sole surface and the contact surface. Thus, on a radial cross-section (X) orthogonal to the rotation axis and traversing the plank, an imaginary straight line (a) on the sole surface of the plank and an imaginary straight line (b) on the contact surface of the plank diverge toward the envelope surface of the base and form an angle α with each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
