<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To express more clearly a difference in colors used in a document image in the case of generating reduced color image data by reducing the number of colors which constitute the document image. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 1 comprises a hue specification part 42 specifying to which of three or more hue regions provided in a color space the hue of each pixel constituting input image data belongs; an output color converter 201 converting a color of a pixel constituting image data into an output color determined corresponding to the specified hue region; a brightness calculation part 202 selecting a brightness calculation coefficient corresponding to the hue region specified for every pixel from the brightness calculation coefficients determined corresponding to each hue region, and calculating a brightness to be given to each pixel of the image data converted into the output color based on the selected brightness calculation coefficient; and an image data generating part 204 generating the reduced color image data using the calculated brightness. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
