<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve responsiveness in capacity adjustment of a variable displacement vane pump. <P>SOLUTION: This variable displacement vane pump includes a first fluid pressure chamber 31 partitioned to face a part of an outer periphery of a cam ring 4 and a second fluid pressure chamber 32 provided to be opposed to the first fluid pressure chamber 31 across the cam ring 4 and partitioned to face a part of the outer periphery of the cam ring 4. The first fluid pressure chamber 31 and the second fluid pressure chamber 32 expand and contract, and the cam ring 4 is eccentric to a rotor 2 to change discharge capacity. The cam ring 4 includes a discharge region 42 for contracting volume of a pump chamber 7 according to rotation of the rotor 2. A cam surface 4a in the discharge region 42 includes a first pressure receiving section 45 in which pressure of working fluid for making the cam ring 4 eccentric is acted in a direction for increasing discharge capacity discharged from the pump chamber 7 and a second pressure receiving section 46 in which pressure of working fluid for making the cam ring 4 eccentric is acted in a direction for reducing discharge capacity discharged from the pump chamber 7.
