According to the invention, to produce a roller (1) with an applied surface coating (4), a liquid surface material is supplied to the roller during rotation (8) of the latter and said material is distributed with the desired material thickness with the aid of a peripheral body (5) running alongside the roller at a distance (6) to the latter, thus permitting a roller with a surface coating to be produced in a single work operation, as a uniform, completely smooth surface requiring no post-processing, such as grinding, is achieved. Production is thus simplified and material savings can be made. The application is economical as there is no need for post-processing and there are also no adverse effects on the environment or problems caused by dust. |
