<p>A blend of hexamethyldisiloxane and dimethyl carbonate displays azeotropic behavior over a surprisingly broad composition range of from about 10 % to about 90 % by weight dimethyl carbonate. The blends are useful for degreasing, precision cleaning and flux removal from soldered articles, as well as a carrier liquid for particulates such as particulate poly tetrafluoroethylene lubricant. Increasing amounts of dimethyl carbonate in the blend provide a more aggressive cleaner. Methods for cleaning, degreasing and flux removal include applying the blends of the invention to articles and drying the articles by drying the applied blends or allowing the applied blends to evaporate.</p> |
