PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element having high light emission brightness and high light emission efficiency regardless of a low voltage.

SOLUTION: An organic EL element has at least one organic compound layer which is sandwiched between a pair of electrodes and contains a light emission layer. Nitride-contained heterocyclic derivative having a structure that a specific group is coupled to benzoimidazole is contained in at least one layer of the organic compound layer.
