<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device and a vehicle control method, capable of quickly restarting an engine without hindering braking control in the vehicle including a function for automatically stopping the engine of the vehicle based on a braking operation by a driver. <P>SOLUTION: An ECU for the brake acquires a coasting acceleration rate Dg as an estimated value of acceleration of the vehicle when the vehicle is traveling in a state in which the wheels are not applied with braking force (step S27), acquires a first vehicle speed estimated value VS1 based on the coasting acceleration rate Dg (step S28), and permits the restarting of the engine (step S30) when the acquired first vehicle speed estimated value VS1 is less than a brake control allowable reference value KVS (step S29: YES). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
