Disclosed is an endoscope system which includes: a scope unit, which is provided with an image pickup means which observes a subject; and an image processing unit, to which at least one scope unit can be removably connected. The image processing unit is provided with: a first data transmitting means, which transmits, to the scope unit, a first packet including identification information; and a first data receiving means, which receives a second packet from the scope unit. The scope unit is provided with: a nonvolatile memory, which stores intrinsic parameters of the scope unit; a second data receiving means which receives the first packet from the image processing unit; and a second data transmitting means which transfers the second packet to the image processing unit, on the basis of the identification information included in the first packet, by performing switching between a first data format wherein the intrinsic parameters are transferred to the image processing unit, and a second data format wherein the real time information of the scope unit is transferred to the image processing unit. |
