<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector having excellent assembly work property. <P>SOLUTION: An optical connector 11 is connected to the end part of an optical fiber cable 12 in which an optical fiber element wire 15 is coated by a coating part 16 having tensile strength fiber 18. The optical connector 11 includes: a ferrule 61 that is fixed at the end part of the optical fiber element wire 15 exposed from the coating part 16; a caulking sleeve 71 through which the optical fiber element wire 15 passes and on which the coating part 16 is fixed; and a housing 21 by which the ferrule 61 and caulking sleeve 71 are held. The housing 21 includes an accommodation recess part 24d whose side is opened.
