The invention relates to a use of the fruit of Ceratonia siliqua as an active substance for producing a medicinal product against diarrhea and/or bowel irritations. 5-50 g, preferably 30-50 g of the active substance is administered per application. The active substance is preferably in a pulverized form. According to the invention, the fruit of Ceratonia siliqua, in the form of pods comprising fruit seeds, are harvested substantially ripened, cleaned, dried and at least the fruit seeds are milled. The active substance can be suspended in a carrier fluid and in particular used as an active substance against diarrhea as a cause of cholera, salmonella, shigellosis, amoebic dysentery, enteritis and/or inflammation of the large intestine. The invention relates to a method for producing the cited medicinal product. According to the invention, the fruit seeds are milled and used as a medicinal product without additional binding agents. The active substance can be mixed with other materials which are selected from natural substances, homeopathic, allopathic and/or synthetic active materials and mixtures thereof. Synergistic effects have been thus demonstrated. |
