The cell has a battery cell housing comprising a sheathing (5), where a front end of the sheathing comprises a locking top surface (1). The top surface is fixed at the sheathing by a groove (10), and the battery cell housing comprises stiffening elements (11-13) outside a region of the groove, where the elements produce increment of axial resistive torque of the battery cell housing. The sheathing exhibits a rotationally symmetric cross-section or an angular cross-section. The element is firmly connected with a rib, and a weld seam is arranged in a wall of the battery cell housing. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a battery cell.
