<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform APC (Auto Power Control) calibration processing (calibration processing about an inclination of a characteristic between laser driven current and laser output power) while preventing a recording time from being expanded even in the case of using a write-once-type optical recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: A focus jump is made to a surface from a recording layer to execute APC calibration processing on the surface. This prevents the recording layer from being recorded or erased even if laser power is applied to the vicinity of recording power in accordance with the APC calibration processing. In short, APC calibration processing that does not consume a recording capacity uselessly can be achieved only by movement of a very short time, that is, the movement to the surface even without making movement of a long time to a lead-in area or the like, and consequently, APC calibration that prevents a recording time from being expanded can be achieved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
