The casing (1) has two oppositely arranged side walls (2) that are connected with each other by struts. The struts are designed as pipes (3) that are connected with one side wall by utilizing a set of connecting elements i.e. plugs (4). The connecting elements are pressed into the pipes. A circular recess (21) is approximately centered in the sidewalls for accommodating a hoisting drum. A side arm is attached to the side walls. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a support casing.
