METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR OPTIONALLY PLAYING COLORFUL RING BACK TONE

A method for optionally playing colorful ring back tone is provided by the present invention. The method includes that: the calling of a calling terminal is routed to a called network from a calling network, and colorful ring back tone service of an Application Server (AS) is triggered by the called network; the AS establishes a connection between the calling terminal and a Medium Server (MS), and the AS sends to the MS a playing indicator carrying with an optional ring tone parameter; after receiving the playing indicator, the MS plays the colorful ring back tone to the calling terminal according to the optional ring tone parameter. Also provided by the present invention is a system for optionally playing colorful ring back tone. With the solution of the present invention, a called user in a Packet Switch (PS) domain can provide the function of optionally playing colorful ring back tone to the calling user, thus achieving the need of optionally playing the colorful ring back tone by the user in the PS.
